Moving Pictures: Flash Slideshow of the photographs of Dewitt Jones

Dewitt Jones, a seasoned professional photographer, began shooting nature images from a moving car after a road trip with friend who had little respect for the basic rules of photography, such as looking through the viewfinder. "I was certain these 'drive-by' images would be a disaster," says Jones, "but now and again there emerged an image of exquisite beauty, perhaps a confluence of light and line." And, admits Jones, it was just plain fun to do. "Eventually I moved from drive-bys to walk-bys to stand-bys, finding a magical location and then moving the camera as I took the image."

Dewitt Jones is a photographer and philosopher living on the island of Molokai. A photographer for National Geographic for twenty years, Jones now gives inspirational talks to corporations -- and continues to shoot "drive-bys" around the world.
